JAMMU, July 4: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has directed the J&K unit of the BJP to ready itself for the forthcoming Assembly elections in the Union Territory. This directive came during an emergency meeting convened by the BJP high command in Delhi, where J&K BJP leaders were summoned for discussions lasting over two and a half hours.
Sources revealed that Shah, alongside BJP National President JP Nadda, emphasized the need for comprehensive preparation among party members and cadre. “We have been directed by the high command to mobilize all resources in readiness for the Assembly elections in J&K,” a highly placed source stated.
The meeting, held in Delhi at 8 PM, was attended by BJP General Secretaries Ashok Koul (Gen Sec Organisation), Sunil Sharma, Vibodh Gupta, Dr Devendra Manyal, and J&K BJP President Ravinder Raina. “Discussions primarily focused on strategies to expand the party’s base in J&K,” the sources added.
However, concerns were raised by the BJP high command regarding the party’s declining vote share in the Jammu region. Home Minister Amit Shah directed the J&K BJP leadership to identify the reasons behind this decline and ensure a resurgence in the upcoming elections. “Prepare for the Assembly elections and ensure that BJP secures victory to form the next government in J&K,” Shah reportedly emphasized.
Additionally, the high command has tasked J&K BJP leaders with thorough groundwork, including analyzing past mistakes and addressing causes for the drop in vote share.
In attendance at the crucial meeting were BJP National General Secretary BL Santosh, J&K election in-charge G Krishna Reddy, and MPs from Jammu, Dr Jitendra Singh and Jugal Kishore.
