Jammu, June 14: Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) and Government Polytechnic Bikram Chowk College, Jammu have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Friday to work together and help the students enhance their skills and knowledge with regard to entrepreneurship, innovation and startups.
The MoU was signed in a formal ceremony held at JKEDI, Baribrahmana campus and attended by key officials from both the institutions. The signatories were Rajinder Kumar Sharma (JKAS), Director JKEDI and Er. Arun Bangotra, Principal Government Polytechnic College, Jammu in the presence of Er. Jasdeep Kour, HOD Instrumentation and Control Department, Er. Ajay Thapa, OIC TP Cell Government Polytechnic Jammu, Er. Sanam Gupta, Lecturer Grade-1 Mechanical Engineering Department, Er. Amit Kapoor Workshop Instructor Government Polytechnic, Jammu, Zahid Ali Dar, I/c CIIBM, JKEDI and Mr. Sorab Mengi, Assistant Manager, F&A, JKEDI.
The purpose of the MoU between the two institutions is to work together for Curriculum Design, by way of providing valuable inputs in teaching / training methodology and suitably customize the curriculum so that the students fit in the entrepreneurial scenario meaningfully, followed by industrial training and visits, Internship for the students, Research and Development, skill development programs and guest lectures.
Speaking on the occasion, Director JKEDI, Sh. Rajinder Kumar Sharma (JKAS) said, “JKEDI shall extends support for internships to students of the Government Polytechnic Colege, Jammu based on recommendations through proper channels subject to suitable positions and criteria fulfilment. We have agreed to carry out the joint research-activities in the fields of Entrepreneurship Development and Startup Culture in J&K. The students shall also be trained in emerging technologies in order to bridge the skill gap and make them industry ready.”
Er. Arun Bangotra, Principal, Government Polytechnic College, Jammu, said that this partnership is a significant stride to help the student community benefit by enhancing their skills and knowledge with regard to entrepreneurship, innovation and startups. He further informed that Government Polytechnic Jammu has established a Center for Invention, Innovation, Incubation and Training (CIIIT) to impart training in latest trends of Manufacturing Technology, Automobile Engineering conforming to Industry 4.0 with the help of Tata Technologies Ltd Pune.
Industry and Institution interaction will give an insight to the latest developments and requirements of the industries, so that the training and exposure provided to students and faculty through this association will build confidence and prepare the students to have a smooth transition from academic to working career.
This MoU is aimed at offering the students enhanced opportunities to develop entrepreneurial skills and contribute to the region’s economic growth. Both institutions will collaborate on faculty development programs, including workshops, seminars, and training sessions to enhance teaching methodologies and subject expertise.
