Jammu, Dec 22: Former J&K Chief Minister and DPAP chairman Ghulam Nabi Azad on Friday lauded the efforts of International Delhi Public School Jammu for offering free education to needy students besides substantially contributing to the education sector of the Union Territory.
Azad addressed the school management and guests at its annual day function and said that the contribution of the school can’t be forgotten since it has elevated the quality of education and produced students with immense exposure and critical thinking.
“The contribution of IDPS Jammu brought new paradigms in the education sector and raised the bar of quality education. It has produced students of international exposure who have proven their mettle at international forums and brought fame and name to our country, especially the Jammu region,” he said.
The DPAP chief said that while the quality of education requires huge efforts and resources, however, IDPS Jammu couldn’t afford to overlook the needs of the downtrodden part of society. “Without compromising the quality of education, this school is offering equal opportunities to those bright students who hail from the poor section of society. Irrespective of social strata, the school is providing equal opportunities to all,” he said.
“The facilities in schools are nowadays of high level though, during our times, the facilities were minimal. But entirely the focus was on quality of education,” he said. He also praised Jammu for its cosmopolitan culture where people from all faiths and sections of society grow together with equal opportunities.
“If we have to uplift the UT socioeconomically, it is only possible through education,” the former CM said. He stressed due to modern facilities and new innovations in the education sector, sports is given equal importance due to which many of the students here have brought laurels to Jammu and the country both at national and international levels.
