Abdul Razaq Mallah (75 yr) a local resident of Turka-Tachloo in South Kashmir’s Anantnag undertook a remarkable journey on his trusted Atlas cycle, covering an astounding 50 kilometers to distribute meat to his beloved relatives on the auspicious occasion of Eid-Ul-Adha .
This inspiring act of compassion and tradition has captivated the hearts of locals, embodying the spirit of community and familial bonds.
Dressed in traditional attire, Abdul Razaq Mallah set off early in the morning, his atlas cycle loaded with packed portions of sacrificial meat. The journey, which covered approximately 50 kilometers, with rough roads testing Mallah’s resolve. Undeterred, he pedaled forward, driven by the desire to fulfill the values of generosity and togetherness ingrained in his soul.
Born out of a lifelong commitment to spreading joy and embracing the significance of the Eid festival, Abdul Razaq Mallah, affectionately known as “Lala” by his loved ones, has been on a dedicated mission since decades of time to ensure that on the occasion of Eid-Ul-Adha his family members in Anantnag, Qazigund, and Kulgam receive their share of sacrificial meat during this cherished time.
His Son Ishaq Ah Mallah told Rising Kashmir that ever since my childhood, Lala used to go on a mission to distribute meat to our relatives during Eid-ul-Adha.
“Since my childhood, Lala has embarked on this noble endeavor. Rain or shine, he would set out on his trusty Atlas cycle, carrying the precious gift of sacrificial meat. His selflessness and commitment have left an indelible mark on our family and the entire community,” Lala’s Son Ishaq said.
Upon reaching each destination, Mallah’s arrival was greeted with excitement and gratitude. Family members and relatives, touched by his selfless gesture, embraced him warmly, cherishing not only the delicious meat but also the bonds of love and kinship that he fostered through his act of kindness.
“We are truly blessed to have such a caring and selfless farher like Lala in our family,” his daughter Jawahara who is married in Anantnag said .
“Lala’s dedication to serving our relatives is truly inspiring. He embodies the spirit of Eid-ul-Adha, reminding us all of the importance of sharing and caring for one another,” she said, her eyes filled with admiration.
Abdul Razaq Mallah shared his motivation for undertaking this arduous endeavor. He said
“The joy of giving is unparalleled. My ancestors have taught me that sharing our blessings with loved ones on this blessed occasion is a way of strengthening the bonds of family and community. It brings me immense happiness to continue this tradition and witness the smiles it brings to the faces of those I hold dear,” he said,
He said , “Not only on Eid-ul-Adha, but I used to visit my daughters, who are married in different places, on my bicycle. It brings me immense joy to see the smiles on their faces when I arrive. It is my way of staying connected with my loved ones and fostering a sense of togetherness,”.
As the sun set, Abdul Razaq Mallah concluded his tireless mission, returning to his home in Turka Tachloo village. Although physically exhausted, his heart was filled with satisfaction, knowing that he had brought joy and happiness to his relatives on this sacred occasion.
Lala’s act of kindness not only touched the hearts of his relatives but also inspired the entire community, reminding everyone of the power of compassion and the importance of cherishing family bonds. His dedication to this annual tradition serves as a beautiful example for generations to come.
