Shopian, Feb 22 : Authorities on Saturday seized 40 quintals of substandard organic manure (Vermicompost) from a shop in Sofanaman village of south Kashmir’s Shopian district.
Law Enforcement Inspector Shopian, Malik Syeed, told Rising Kashmir that samples of the organic manure from a specific batch were collected a few days ago during a routine inspection.
He said the samples were sent to QCL Laboratory Srinagar for testing.
“The results confirmed that the samples were substandard,” he said, adding that a show cause notice was issued to the shop owner following the seizure of the premises.
He said that around 40 quintals of the organic manure has been seized.
The Law Enforcement Inspector further said that the shop owner has been given a 10-day show cause notice, after which legal proceedings will be initiated in the court of law.
