Pulwama, Sept 22: The authorities of the school education department have suspended four teachers for resorting to violence and causing hurt to a resident at Anderwali village of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Chief Education Officer Pulwama, Abdul Qayoom, said that four teachers from Upper Primary School Anderwali in Shadimarg Zone of Pulwama have been suspended for resorting to violence.
“Two teachers have been arrested by police,” the Chief Education Officer said.
He added that one resident Mukhtar Ahmad Shah has donated a patch of land for Upper Primary School Anderwali and he also has constructed a shed on one side of the same patch of land.
He added that the shed became a bone of contention between the teachers and the family.
“A video of the incident emerged on various social media where the use of violence by teachers has been established. We have suspended four teachers,” he said, adding among the four two have been arrested by police.
A village representative said  Mukhtar Ahmad Shah was injured in the brawl.
Mukhtar told the media that he had donated a patch of land for upper primary school some years ago and had constructed a shed  on one side of the patch on his own land.
“The teachers were dismantling the shed and when I went near to stop them from dismantling it, three teachers caught hold of me and the other hit me with an iron rod,” he said, adding that his arm bone was fractured in the attack.
The old man said that his son and other family members too were beaten by the teacher.
A teacher posted at upper primary school Anderwali said that the shed was blocking passage drain water from school premises.
He said that the school has around 250 students and that they were facing difficulties in holding morning assembly and serving mid-day meals due to dampness in the school ground.
He said that they were making a passage for draining out the water.
He said that the family appeared on the scene with iron rods with the intention of having a quarrel.
“The iron rod was brought by them” he said, adding that the teacher snatched it from them for his self-defence.
