Baramulla, Sept 22: Three residential houses were gutted in a fire incident in Kitchama Bala area of Sheeri, Baramulla in the wee hours of Friday.
According to officials from the Fire and Emergency Services, the fire incident consumed two houses severely, while a third suffered partial damage.
Riyaz Ahmad,a fire and emergency official at Baramulla said that the fire outbreak originated from the double-storey residence of Ghulam Ahmad Bhat, son of Wali Mohammad Bhat, on Friday morning.
Tragically, the house of Abdul Ahad Sheikh was completely gutted, while the house of Altaf Hussain Parrey sustained minor damage.
He said that the Fire and Emergency Services received an alert at 6:27 AM on Friday, prompting the dispatch of two fire service vehicles and one army vehicle to extinguish the flames.
Residents of the area lamented the absence of a nearby fire emergency services station, emphasizing the need for one.
They appealed to the Deputy Commissioner of Baramulla to assist the victims and establish a fire station in the locality.
“We have a fire emergency service station in Baramulla town and another in Uri. However, within a forty-kilometer radius, there is not a single fire service station,” they said.
They appealed to the LG administration to allocate fire service stations in the area to prevent future calamities.
