Srinagar, Mar 15: The Jammu and Kashmir government on Saturday stated that out of 32 sanctioned posts, including consultants, medical officers, a dental surgeon, and paramedics at Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Pahalgam, 17 are filled while 15 remain vacant.

The information was provided in a written response by the Minister in charge of the Health and Medical Education Department to a starred question raised by MLA Pahalgam Altaf Ahmad Wani.

The hospital has a single-storey building with a dental section, two wards, an X-ray section, a general OPD, a gynecology room, two storerooms, a Jan Aushadhi room, a laboratory, and one operation theater. There are also double-storey residential quarters for hospital staff.

The hospital is equipped with diagnostic and therapeutic equipment, including a CBC Analyzer, Biochemistry Analyzer, Urine Analyzer, Dental Chair, Dental X-ray, Ultrasound Machine, X-ray Plant, Portable X-ray, and Blood Cell Rotator.

A new 50-bedded building is under construction at an approved cost of ₹1990 lakh through the R&B department. The superstructure is complete, and finishing works are in progress. The project is expected to be completed in the 2025-26 financial year to enhance healthcare services.

Regarding staff shortages, the government said vacancies have been referred to the recruiting agency. Once the selection lists are received, the posts will be filled. Machinery and equipment are upgraded annually based on priority and patient footfall.
