Srinagar, Mar 13: The Jammu and Kashmir government on Thursday said that 183 ex-servicemen from the defense forces are currently registered with various District Employment & Counselling Centres (DE&CCs) across the Union Territory.
In a written reply to a question by MLA Rajiv Jasrotia in the Assembly, the Labour & Employment Department stated that these registered ex-servicemen’s details, including their names and ranks at the time of retirement, have been documented.
The government also said that ex-servicemen are entitled to a 6% horizontal reservation in direct recruitment for government jobs as per the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation Rules, 2005 (SRO 294 of 2005).
Regarding financial support for ex-servicemen who have received bravery awards or decorations, the government clarified that no specific scheme exists under the Labour & Employment Department to provide them with monthly or annual financial relief.
The government assured that employment and welfare measures for ex-servicemen remain a priority, but any additional financial support would require policy-level decisions.
