Kangan, Apr 04: A tragic incident unfolded in the Haknar Gund area of Kangan sub-district on Friday morning, when a 17-year-old boy drowned in the local power canal, sparking grief and mourning across the region.
The deceased has been identified as Javed Ahmad Khan, son of Abdul Wahid Khan, a resident of Haknar Gund. According to local sources, the incident occurred around 10 AM, leaving the entire community in shock.
Following the incident, Gund Police, along with the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and local residents,PDC Employees immediately launched a rescue operation to retrieve the body. Volunteers from nearby Kangan also joined the search efforts.
After nearly three hours of relentless efforts, the rescue team successfully recovered the body of the teenager. Gund Police have initiated an investigation into the incident to determine the exact circumstances that led to the drowning.
The tragic death of the young boy has cast a pall of gloom over the area, with residents expressing sorrow and solidarity with the bereaved family.
