113 drug peddlers held, 7 detained under PSA in last 3 months in Baramulla: Police

Continuing the drive ‘war against drugs’ to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, police have arrested a drug peddler in Baramulla and recovered contraband substance from his possession.

 

 Pertinently in last three (03) months, 113 drug peddlers have been arrested, 7 detained under PSA, 75 cases registered under NDPS Act and contraband worth crores have been recovered in Baramulla.

 

A police party headed by SHO Police Station Kunzer under the supervision of SDPO Tangmarg Shri Javaid Ahmad-JKPS at a checkpoint established at Batpora Kunzer intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully. During checking, 48 grams of Charas like substance was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Firdous Ahmad Mir son of Gh Mohammad Mir resident of Gonipora Kunzer. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.

 

Accordingly, case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Kunzer and investigation has been initiated.

 

It is pertinent to mention here that during the past three months of the current year, Police in Baramulla have registered 75 cases under NDPS Act and arrested 113 drug peddlers, detained 7 drug peddlers under PSA & recovered contraband substances including Brown Sugar, Charas and Poppy Straw/Cannabis Powder worth crores besides, also seized 11 vehicles.
