Srinagar, August 09: Acting on a credible tip-off, Assistant Commissioner of Food Safety Yameen-ul-Nabi, along with SHO Parimpora Rabinder Singh, the local Numberdar, and other concerned officers, seized 1,000 kg of meat from AK Enterprises cold store at Hajibagh Sharief Abad, HMT.
The illegally stored consignment was confiscated and the cold store was immediately sealed in the presence of police, local administration, and food safety officials.
Just a day prior, Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Satish Sharma had warned that “anyone found involved in such activities will face the strictest legal action and be brought to justice.”
Officials revealed that the consignment recovered today is linked to an earlier illegal meat seizure in Nowgam, where a similar stock was found abandoned roadside. Through swift investigation, the same consignment was traced to Sharief Abad, marking a major breakthrough in the crackdown on the Illegal meat trade.
Public health authorities have urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious food storage or sale to ensure the safety of the community.
