Kupwara, Aug 09: In a vibrant display of patriotism ahead of Independence Day, a massive Tiranga Rally was held in the border town of Teetwal in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district along the Line of Control (LoC) on Friday. The event featured a 1.5-kilometre-long tricolour carried by more than 3,000 participants, including students, locals, and activists, who walked together to celebrate the spirit of the nation.The rally, which drew people from different parts of the district, also witnessed a series of cultural performances by schoolchildren, adding colour and enthusiasm to the occasion. Similar rallies were held in various districts of Jammu and Kashmir, where students and social groups joined hands to carry the national flag in unity.Speaking to reporters, newly-appointed Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Shrikant Balasaheb Shrikant Balasaheb Suse, expressed pride in the event. “Today, I am very happy to be part of this programme, which is being held in the Jammu-Kashmir Union Territory, in the district of Kupwara, in all the areas of the country. More than 3,000 children have participated in this program,” he said.Highlighting the unique importance of the border location, Suse added, “Cultural programs have been demonstrated here with great enthusiasm. Being a border village, this rally is very important. In the coming time, such programs will be held in other areas as well.”The Deputy Commissioner also extended an appeal to the public, saying, “I request the people of Kupwara to participate in this national function and play a part in the celebration of the Independence Day on 15th August.”The event not only fostered patriotic spirit but also reinforced the sense of unity among the residents of this sensitive border region, setting the tone for the upcoming Independence Day celebrations across the Union Territory.
