Young author from Kulgam receives scholarship at St. Andrews University

Srinagar, Jan 08: Shahid Fayaz Saqi, a young author from Kulgam has been selected for the prestigious scholarship in the University of St. Andrews, United Kingdom.
The 23-year- old is the author of the 12 books and is all set to pursue an honors degree in English Literature in the prestigious university.
The university under the scholarship has selected the six candidates across the globe including Shahid on the basis of examinations and interviews related to English literature.
The books written by him focus on politics, nature, philosophy and divinity, are currently available on Amazon and the many book stores in India.
His contribution in the literature has garnered him many awards including Legend Icon Award 2020, Art World Award and Global version awards.
Talking about his book, he said that his favorite and the most read book is “What I Couldn’t Say, I Wrote.” He said that the book is about love, separation and loss.
“The admission process is yet to be started. Studying in foreign country is not difficult if one works hard. Behind every successful dream there is a struggle. When the dream does not let you sleep, then think that this is the true dream,” he said.
Belonging to a middle-class family, he said that his expectations are high and he wants to make the most out of it. “My expectations are high and I can get a lot to learn from the faculty and everyone here. To get a good exposure, it's important to go and explore,” he said.
He said youth should try to spread message of humanity and peace.
He said, “Don't lose hope, be as smart and as patient as nothing stops you from what you wish to achieve. You are unique in the way you are. Just believe in yourself, everything will come to you at the right time.”
