Work shoulder to shoulder with farmers: Dir Agri Kmr to officers

Srinagar, Nov 25: Director Agriculture Kashmir Chowdhary Mohammad Iqbal on Friday asked the officers of the department to work shoulder to shoulder with the farming community.
He directed them to assist and facilitate farmers during different post-harvest management activities and winter cultivation of different agricultural crops.
The Director Agriculture visited different areas of district Baramulla and held interaction with farmers of different villages besides monitoring various agricultural activities. He met the farmers of different areas on the field and took on spot feedback regarding various interventions introduced by the department and adopted by the farmers of the area.
Speaking on the occasion, the Director assured the farmers that the department is committed to providing technical guidance to them during various agriculture activities. He asked them to strictly follow the instructions and guidance provided to them by the department (extension workers).
“The department is endeavoring to provide farmers with the latest technological interventions during the cultivation of different agricultural crops so that the good returns could be fetched and socio-economic transformation of the farming community of the region could be achieved,” he said.
Earlier, the Director distributed Knapsack Sprayers among the farmers. Later, he visited the under-construction tissue culture laboratory which is being established (in the private sector) at Pattan. The Director was accompanied by Deputy Director Agriculture (central) Wahid-ul-Reham, Chief Agriculture Officer Baramulla Yadwinder Singh, water use specialist Nelofar Qureshi and other senior officers of the department.
