Three avalanches hit Gurez villages, no damage reported

Bandipora, Feb 03: At least three avalanches struck the upper reaches of Wazirithal, Gujran and Neery villages of Tulail Tehsil of Gurez valley in North Kashmir's Bandipora district on Friday.
The  officials told Rising Kashmir that the slide impacted the upper reaches of these villages however no fatalities or damage was reported during the occurrences.
Deputy commissioner, Bandipora Dr Owais Ahmad told Rising Kashmir that rescue teams were deputed soon after they had been informed of the avalanches.
He said that upon evaluating circumstances no damage, injuries or casualties were found. However, he said people were advised not to go out unnecessarily
"We are vigilantly monitoring the situation and movement of people in avalanche prone zones, people have also been helpful. Teams have already been sent to the region and are evaluating the situation he said."
DC revealed that  the officials were closely monitoring the activities in the avalanche prone areas of the district. 
To mention, around ten avalanches have struck Gurez valley since the month of January however no cases of any damage or loss of life was reported in any occurrence.
The official said that until the weather improves, the administration has requested the general population  avoid going outside or around avalanche-prone locations.
