Srinagar, Feb 17: Shab e Mehraj-ul-Alam, the auspicious night of Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) ascension to skies, will be observed on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday. The divine night marks a revered occasion in the Islamic calendar and is observed by Muslims all around the world with religious fervor, reverence and devotion.
The celebration of Mehraj-ul-Alam (PBUH) usually involves prayer, recitation of the Quran, and gatherings where the story of the Prophet’s journey is told. The celebration is also an opportunity for Muslims to reflect on the teachings and message of Islam and strive to follow the Prophet’s example.
The most significant of these activities is planned to take place at the Assar-i-Sharief and Hazratbal shrines in Srinagar, which are managed and maintained by the J&K Waqf Board, which also supervises and maintains all shrines and mosques in the union territory.
According to the Waqf Board’s program, the holy relic of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) will be displayed after each prayer on the first, second, and final Fridays after Mehraj-ul-Alam. On February 18, 2023, the Isha prayer will be offered at exactly ten o’clock (10:00) at night. After the Isha prayer, Khamatat-ul-Muazamat, Darood-u-Azkar, Naat-Khwaani, and the gathering of Waaz-n-Tabligh will continue throughout the night.
On Sunday after every prayer, the holy relic of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) will be displayed.
An official of the WAKF board told Rising Kashmir that all the arrangements have been put in place by the administration for the smooth functioning of Mehraj-ul-Alam (PBUH). He said the district administration has also toured all the major places where the Mehraj-ul-Alam (PBUH) prayer would be held across the city.
The traffic police Srinagar in this regard has also issued a traffic advisory, route plan for the smooth movement of traffic in city on the occasion of Mehraj-ul-Alam (PBUH).
