A day after NDTV channel's founders Prannoy Roy and Radhika Roy tendered their resignation as directors on the board of RRPR Holding Private Limited (RRPRH), Senior Journalist Ravish Kumar has also resigned from his post as the senior executive editor at NDTV India.
In an announcement made through an internal mail within the channel, NDTV said that the resignation was effective immediately.
Earlier on Tuesday, Prannoy Roy and his wife Radhika Roy, founders and promoters of channel New Delhi Television (NDTV), resigned as directors on the Board of RRPR Holding Private Limited, a promoter group vehicle of NDTV, the company said in a regulatory filing to the stock exchanges.
Suparna Singh, president, NDTV Group said, “Few journalists have impacted people as much as Ravish. This reflects in the immense feedback about him; in the crowds he draws everywhere; in the prestigious awards and recognition he has received, within India and internationally; and in his daily reports, which champion the rights and needs of those who are under-served.”
Ravish has been an integral part of NDTV for decades, Suparna said, adding that his contribution has been immense, and “we know he will be hugely successful as he embarks on a new beginning”.
He was the Senior Executive Editor of NDTV India. He hosts a number of programmes including the channel's flagship weekday show Prime Time, Hum Log, Ravish Ki Report and Des Ki Baat.
Kumar has twice been conferred with Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Award for the Best Journalist of the Year and became the fifth Indian journalist to receive the Ramon Magsaysay Award in 2019.
