Samoon asks students to enhance skills as per latest industry needs

Poonch, March 20: Principal Secretary, Skill Development Department (SDD), Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon on Monday said the department is working under a well-knit strategy towards modernizing and upgrading the infrastructure, machinery and workshops of Polytechnics of J&K.
While inaugurating the administrative block of Government Polytechnic College, Poonch, Dr. Samoon exhorted the employees of the college to work with utmost dedication and devotion to accomplish the training programs effectively. He advised the Polytechnic students to enhance their skills as per the latest industry needs and market demands so that they can avail more job opportunities or become successful entrepreneurs.
Chairperson District Development Council, Poonch, Tazeem Akhter, Director SDD, Sudershan Kumar, District Development Commissioner, Poonch, Inderjeet and Principal Government Polytechnic College, Poonch, Vivek Sharma were present on the occasion. The administrative block has been constructed at a cost of Rs. 7 crores.
DDC Chairperson expressed gratitude to the Skill Development Department particularly Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon for fulfilling their long pending demands. She projected the demand for the construction of a hostel block for girls and boys, ITI for Tehsil Mandi. District Development Commissioner presented a brief overview regarding the status of technical education imparted to the students in the district’s polytechnic and ITI institutes.
Director SDD highlighted the achievements of the department in terms of admission, training of faculty and related issues. On the occasion, various cultural activities were performed by the students of Government Polytechnic College, Poonch.
