Kathua, Apr 19: The Kathua administration is implementing innovative SVEEP activities to promote voters’ participation. District Election Officer, Rahul Pandey, has been leading the efforts to ensure that every eligible voter in the district exercises his democratic right.
The administration has been conducting several awareness campaigns, including the ‘Pledge to Vote’ initiative, which aims to motivate voters to take a pledge to participate in the electoral process.
To reach out to the youth, the administration has launched a series of voter education programs in colleges and universities across the district. These programs aim to inform young voters about the importance of voting and to encourage them to register as voters.
Pertinently, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has issued a revised schedule under which claims and objections shall be taken till 06 May 2023, Claims and objections shall be disposed of by 15 May 2023 and final publication of Electoral Rolls shall be held on 27 May 2023.
The SVEEP campaign has also been utilizing social media platforms to create awareness about voting, information about the electoral process, voter registration, and means of updation. The administration has also launched a social media campaign, #My Vote My Right, to encourage citizens to participate in the electoral process.
To ensure that voters in remote and inaccessible areas are not left behind, the administration has set up special voter facilitation centres in these areas. These centres provide assistance to voters in the registration process and help them with any queries related to the electoral process.
“The Kathua administration is committed to ensuring that every eligible voter exercises their democratic right. We are constantly exploring innovative methods to drive voter participation and make the electoral process more accessible and inclusive,” said Rahul Pandey.
The administration’s efforts have received widespread support and appreciation from community leaders, civil society organizations, and the general public. These efforts are expected to result in a more informed and engaged electorate and more vibrant democracy in the district.
Besides, the District Election Cell has launched an intensive door-to-door campaign to cover all eligible persons, and an extensive awareness drive through the SVEEP van which on Wednesday covered different parts of the AC Jasrota constituency.
