Srinagar, May 24: A large gathering of prominent carpet exporters, stakeholders, and entrepreneurs convened at 7cs Cafe n Fine Dine to congratulate Sheikh Ashiq and Mehraj Jan on their victorious election to the Carpet Export Promotion Council (CEPC).
This event marked the first interaction and meeting aimed at uplifting the carpet industry of Kashmir post-election.
Sheikh Ashiq expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming support and highlighting their commitment to improving the handmade carpet sector in Kashmir. He stated, “We have taken all the feedback from prominent stakeholders for the betterment of the handmade carpet industry in Kashmir. We will definitely forward this feedback to the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, through the CEPC.”
In addition, the Kashmir Economic Alliance (KEA) and the Kashmir Traders & Manufacturers Federation (KTMF) extended their congratulations to Sheikh Ashiq. KEA Chairman Mohammad Yaseen Khan conveyed heartfelt congratulations to Sheikh Ashiq, former president of KCC&I, on his victory in the prestigious CEPC election under the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India.
Khan, who also heads KTMF, highlighted that Ashiq’s election to this esteemed position is not only a testament to his dedication and hard work but also a significant achievement for the entire Jammu and Kashmir. His success brings immense pride to the community and underscores the exceptional craftsmanship and rich cultural heritage of the region. The president of Meeras also felicitated Sheikh Ashiq during the event. The Kashmir carpet cluster chairman, along with other stakeholders, was present to celebrate this significant occasion.
