J&K reports 57 fresh Covid-19 cases

Srinagar, Apr 21: Jammu and Kashmir on Friday reported 57 fresh Covid-19 cases taking the number of active positive cases to 554 while 3,665 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours.
As per the media bulletin issued by the Jammu and Kashmir government, of the 57 fresh Covid-19 cases, 24 are from Kashmir division and 33 are from Jammu division.
It said that the total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir have increased to 554 including 257 from Kashmir division and 297 from Jammu division.
Of the fresh 57 cases reported today, 11 are from Anantnag, four from Baramulla, three from Budgam and two each from Srinagar, Pulwama, Bandipora,
Similarly, in Jammu division, the fresh cases reported today include 35 from Jammu and four each from Udhampur and Doda.
As per the media bulletin, 77 Covid-19 patients have recovered today including 68 from Kashmir division and nine from Jammu division.
It said all the 554 active cases are either in-home or hospital quarantine. It added that 294 persons are under home surveillance.
In Jammu and Kashmir, Covid-19 cases started surging on April 02 when the Union Territory reported 19 fresh Covid-19 cases.
On April 03 also, J&K saw a major jump of 40 fresh cases. Similarly, on April 04, J&K reported 31 cases and 48 cases on April 05. On April 06, 58 cases were reported.
Similarly, on April 07 J&K again saw the highest-ever caseload of 95 cases. Also, 77 cases were reported on April 08 and 64 cases on April 09.
Similarly, 50 cases were reported on April 10, 97 cases on April 11, 122 cases on April 12, 122 cases on April 13, 151 cases on April 14, 85 on April 15, 104 on April 16, 53 on April 17, 76 on April 18, 56 on April 19 and 87 on April 20.
Officials said no death was reported due to Covid-19 since the rise in cases was reported on April 02. Official figures said in the last 24 hours a total of 3,665 Covid-19 tests were conducted across testing labs in Jammu and Kashmir.
On April 10, hospitals in Jammu and Kashmir held the Covid-19 mock drill for an emergency response to ensure medical equipment and other infrastructure are functioning properly.  
The health department has also tightened Covid-19 preparedness measures following reports of fresh surges in the UT while hospitals have been alerted.
Earlier, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare had advised all the states and Union Territories to effectively implement a five-fold strategy of test, track, treat, follow Covid-19 appropriate behaviour and vaccinate to check the spread.
