Srinagar, Nov 14: In a strategic move to curb terrorist recruitment and bolster public safety, Jammu and Kashmir’s Director General of Police (DGP) R.R. Swain, chaired a high-level security meeting in the southern district of Anantnag.
Emphasising the importance of preventing local youth from joining terrorist ranks, DGP Swain pledged a concerted effort by police and security forces.
Addressing reporters, Swain outlined a multifaceted approach, including reaching out to misguided youth with the aim of convincing them to return home.
However, he warned that those determined to resist or motivated solely by financial incentives would face stringent actions. Notably, the DGP declared any communication or interaction with Pakistan-based handlers or individuals within the region as a criminal offense, signalling a strict stance against such activities.
During his visit to Anantnag, Swain engaged in interactive sessions with police, army, and intelligence officers. The discussions centered on assessing security challenges, the effectiveness of counter-terrorism efforts, and strategies to maintain public order.
The DGP underscored the necessity of robust intelligence networks, regular training programs, and equipping the police force with modern technologies to counter emerging threats effectively.
The meeting, attended by high-ranking officials from police, CAPFs, army, and intelligence agencies, aimed at ensuring a coordinated and proactive approach to address security issues.
DGP Swain stressed the significance of community policing and fostering a strong bond between the police and the general public to build trust and cooperation.
