YSS department’s annual skiing courses begin at Gulmarg

Gulmarg, Jan 07: The annual Skiing Training programme organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (YSS) J&K started on Tuesday at the picturesque Gulmarg here.
The yearly Training course for Batch 1st comprising of boys students was inaugurated by Joint Director Kashmir of Youth Services and Sports Department Mohammad Rashid Kohili. He was accompanied by District Youth Services and Sports Officer Baramullah Ghulam Qadir and Incharge YSS Skiing Courses Hilal Ahmed. The 1st batch of the student skiers comprising of 50 students mostly from Government Schools of various districts of the UT of J&K are participating in the 15 days basic training course. This year the Department has chartered out the plan of organising six courses for Boys and Girls under the guidance of Secretary YSS Sarmad Hafeez and DG YSS Rajinder Singh Tara. While briefing the trainees about the importance and relevance of such courses, JD YSS said that the Department has deputed trained officials and skiing instructors of the department for the successful and effective conduct of the camp. He added that the Department has made best possible arrangements for boarding and lodging of the trainees at the scenic health resort. He advised the young trainees to ensure that they learn the basics of the sport while ensuring that the tourist place is not polluted.
Pertinently Such courses are being organised for other districts of UT also and besides boys, girl students would also receive this training on the skiing slopes of world famous Gulmarg during the days to come. The Course is being organised with the technical expertise of Incharge Course Ghulam Nabi Rashi, Mushtaq Ahmed Dar, Manzoor Ahmed Dar, Mushtaq Khan, Mohammad Rafiq, Fayaz Ahmed, Tariq Ahmed and Zahoor Ahmed. Department is exploring all the possibilities of organizing basic training in Skiing at Sonamarg, Yousmarg, Doodhpathri and other famous tourist places of the valley.
