Anantnag, June 20: On the eve of International Yoga Day, the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Tuesday said that Yoga belongs to the entire world, and indeed to all humanity. It opens the door to peace, mindfulness, physical and mental strength.
This year marks the 9th edition of the International Day of Yoga, and on June 21, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead a yoga session at the UN Headquarters for the first time.
Addressing the Yoga Shiksha Shivir at Ramakrishna Mahasammelan Ashram after paying homage to Swami Ashokanandaji at the Ashram in Achabal in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, the LG said Yoga as a science creates unity between body and mind, between people, regions, and countries so that we can remain healthy, happy, and contribute to the growth and welfare of the entire humanity.
“Swami Ashokananda Ji’s life and teachings continue to influence our society and motivate us to fight for spiritual and social upliftment,” he said.
The Lieutenant Governor said “the yoga reduces stress and teaches us to live in the present moment. It motivates us to uphold the values espoused by sacred scriptures, to walk the righteous path, and to seek peace, mindfulness, physical and mental strength”.
“Yoga has become a popular movement for a healthier society as a result of Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” he said.

The theme chosen for this year’s International Day of Yoga 2023 is “Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,” which beautifully encapsulates our collective aspiration for “One Earth, One Family, One Future.”
