Anantnag, June 20:  On the eve of International Yoga Day, the Lieutenant Governor Manoj  Sinha Tuesday said that Yoga belongs to the entire world, and indeed to all humanity. It opens the door to peace, mindfulness, physical and mental strength.
This year marks the 9th edition of the International Day of Yoga, and on June 21, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead a yoga session at the UN Headquarters for the first time.
Addressing the Yoga Shiksha Shivir at Ramakrishna Mahasammelan Ashram after paying homage to Swami Ashokanandaji at the Ashram in Achabal in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, the LG said Yoga as a science creates unity between body and mind, between people, regions, and countries so that we can remain healthy, happy, and contribute to the growth and welfare of the entire humanity.
“Swami Ashokananda Ji’s life and teachings continue to influence our society and motivate us to fight for spiritual and social upliftment,” he said.
The Lieutenant  Governor said “the yoga reduces stress and teaches us to live in the present moment. It motivates us to uphold the values espoused by sacred scriptures, to walk the righteous path, and to seek peace, mindfulness, physical and mental strength”.
“Yoga has become a popular movement for a healthier society as a result of Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” he said.
LG Sinha also greeted and praised everyone associated with Shri Ramkrishna Mahasammelan Ashram for their contributions to society and our beautiful nation.
He said it was because of Prime Minister Narendra Modi that yoga became a popular movement for a healthier society.
LG Sinha also greeted everyone affiliated with Shri Ramkrishna Mahasammelan Ashram and praised their efforts in the service of society and our beautiful nation.
LG Sinha said “we are on the verge of a future in which learning and meditation centres can train, guide, and leverage our strong human resource base to build Aatm-Nirbhar Bharat”.
The theme chosen for this year’s International Day of Yoga 2023 is “Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,” which beautifully encapsulates our collective aspiration for “One Earth, One Family, One Future.”
The meeting was attended by prominent personalities including A Balakrishnan, President, Vivekananda Rock Memorial and Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari, B.L. Bhat, Chairman, Ramkrishna Mahasammelan Ashram, Anantnag; Syeed Fakhrudin Hamid, Deputy Commissioner, Anantnag.
