World Telecommunication & Information Society Day observed by IEI Centre

Srinagar, May 17: The Institution of Engineers (India), Jammu & Kashmir UT Centre, Srinagar, hosted a one-day seminar to celebrate World Telecommunication & Information Society Day.
The event, themed ‘Digital Innovation for Sustainable Development,’ brought together a distinguished group of participants. Attendees included corporate members of IEI, Executive Committee Members, academicians, students from NIT Srinagar and Kashmir Government Women’s Polytechnic College, as well as other engineers and faculty members.
The seminar was conducted under the patronage of Er. Iftikhar Ahmad Hakim, Chairman of the Institution of Engineers (India), J&K UT Centre. In his address, he expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all attendees for their valuable presence and contributions.
Dr. Jahangeer Ali, the Honorary Secretary of the institution, coordinated the programme, ensuring its seamless execution.
The event was honored by the presence of distinguished figures in the fields of engineering and telecommunication. A panel of esteemed speakers, including the Registrar of NIT Srinagar, provided deep insights.
Dr.Janibul Bashir, Head of the IT Department at NIT Srinagar, having vast research in the field of ICT in modern times, delivered a compelling PowerPoint presentation that underscored the significance of the seminar’s theme.
Additionally, Er. Henna Khan, JTO at BSNL, offered valuable perspectives on engineering within the telecom sector. Her contributions were particularly insightful, reflecting the crucial role of telecommunications in sustainable development.
This seminar not only facilitated a rich exchange of knowledge but also fostered collaboration between the institutions and shall go a long way in inspiring the students.
The discussions and presentations underscored the critical importance of digital innovation in achieving sustainable development goals, making the event a significant milestone in promoting awareness and action in this vital area. The seminar emphasized the digital divide needs to be addressed.
