Srinagar, July 26: One Day Workshop on “Tinkering of Young Mind for innovation and entrepreneurship” for the students of Burn Hall School was organized today on Wednesday by Directorate of Extension, SKUAST-K.
Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-K Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganai inaugurated the workshop as Chief Guest. Prof. Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi, Director Extension, SKUAST-K; Dr. Sheikh N. Meera, Director ATARI Hyderabad; Dr. AmanatullahKhoker, renowned fish entrepreneur; Scientists of the Directorate of Extension; Er. Riyaz Ahmad (Student Start-up); teachers and students of Burn Hall School also participated in the programme.
Later in the day an interaction with trout farmers of the valley was held under the chairmanship of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-K Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganai who also visited along with Director Extension, Prof. Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi the exhibition stalls of the entrepreneurs and Farmers Produce Organizations (FPO’s) of the SKUAST-Kashmir where sales of many agriculture items produced by farmers were put on sale.
Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-K appreciated Director Extension for organizing this workshop for students and said that this programme will impart and improve requisite knowledge and skill for better innovation in young minds towards achieving successful entrepreneurship. He said that entrepreneurship is the creation or extraction of economic value and highlighted that entrepreneurial vision is defined by discovery and risk taking and is an indispensable part of nation’s capacity to succeed in an ever changing and more competitive global market place.

Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi presented day to day activities of Directorate of Extension and emphasized on concept of entrepreneurship. He said entrepreneurship is ability and readiness to develop, organize and run a business enterprise, along with any of its uncertainties in order to make a profit and further said that the most prominent example of entrepreneurship is the starting of new business.
Dr. AmanatullahKhoker, renowned fish entrepreneur presented a detailed lecture on entrepreneurship. He said the characteristics of a successful entrepreneurship are ability to take risk, innovation, visionary and leadership quality, open minded and flexibilities etc.
Later, students were taken for exposure visit to entrepreneurship fair at Agricultural Technology Information Centre (ATIC) and where shown flying agriculture drone demonstration.
