Jammu, March 05: The Three-Day Workshop on Post-Production Techniques, organised by the department of Journalism and Media Studies, University of Jammu, concluded here Wednesday. The students were provided with comprehensive hands-on training in various aspects of post-production, including editing, content refinement, sound design, and visual storytelling during the three days.
The first session of the final day started before sunrise, wherein the renowned cinematographer, Brajesh Mishra engaged students with the morning photography and content production techniques.
During the subsequent sessions, the students were provided hands-on-training on visual effects, audio enhancement, and multi-platform content adaptation, supporting the importance of technical expertise in media production. On the valedictory day, Managing Director, Dainik State Samachar, Shamsher Singh Charak was the Chief Guest, who emphasised the need for strong post-production skills in the ever-evolving digital media landscape.
Speaking on the occasion, Shamsher Singh Charak said that such experiential learning plays a pivotal role in grooming students as professionals. “Media is the fourth estate of democracy and it has an important role to play in shaping the public discourse. Experiential learning through such workshops not only prepares students to be ready for a competitive market, but also ensures that sheer quality is being introduced to the field of journalism and media production,” Charak said.
Earlier, while welcoming the participants and chief guest, Prof. Garima Gupta, Head of the Department of Journalism and Media Studies, lauded the resource persons and participants for their enthusiasm and engagement. “This workshop was designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry requirements. The hands-on training provided by experts will give students a competitive edge in the media industry,” she said and added that the Vice Chancellor, Prof Umesh Rai, has provided the motivation for the workshop by emphasising on skill training in vocational courses like Journalism. Students, during the feedback, expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to learn directly from industry professionals, stating that the sessions enhanced their technical proficiency and understanding of equipment. The stage was managed by Kumerjit Chajgotra and formal vote of thanks was extended by Prof Dushyant Kumar Rai. Faculty members Dr. Pardeep Singh Bali and Dr. Ramiyan Bhardwaj were also present on the occasion.
