Pulwama, Aug 19: A two-day workshop focused on the branding of agricultural products began on Monday at the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Pulwama. The event, organized by the Institute of Business and Policy Research at SKUAST-K Shalimar under the HADP Project 04, is aimed at equipping young agri-entrepreneurs with the skills and knowledge needed to brand and market their agricultural produce effectively in the global market.
The workshop saw the participation of a large gathering of young entrepreneurs from various sectors, along with representatives from Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), Self-Help Groups (SHGs), progressive farmers, and scientists from both the Institute of Business and Policy Research SKUAST-K Shalimar and KVK Pulwama.
The introductory session provided a platform for FPOs to introduce their products and discuss the challenges they face in marketing and branding. Prof. F.A. Shaheen, Project Investigator of the HADP projects, provided an overview of the workshop, emphasizing the importance of branding and marketing in achieving success in the agricultural sector. He highlighted the need for creating business units that can compete effectively in the market.
Prof. S.H. Baba, Head of the Institute of Business & Policy Research at SKUAST-K, Shalimar, discussed the significance of market linkages and the role of digital media in creating strong brand identities for agricultural products.
He stressed the importance of gaining market traction and leveraging digital platforms for branding.Prof. & Head of KVK Pulwama shared his insights on addressing marketing challenges through proper branding strategies and identifying suitable markets for specific commodities.
He encouraged participants to utilize social media for product promotion and brand building.The workshop’s technical session featured experts who discussed various marketing challenges and potential solutions.
The session was moderated by Dr. Towseef Ahmad Wani, Scientist at KVK Pulwama, and concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Abid Sultan, Assistant Professor of Business Management at SKUAST-K.
The workshop is expected to provide valuable insights and practical tools for young agri-entrepreneurs, helping them to navigate the complexities of branding and marketing in the agricultural sector.
