Srinagar, Feb 12: Director School Education Kashmir (DSEK) Dr G N Itoo Wednesday stated that the all-possible steps will be taken to enhance the education system in the Valley.
He was speaking at the day-long workshop titled “Investing in Leadership” held at Girls Higher Secondary School, Kothibagh, for newly appointed principals in Kashmir division.
Dr. Itoo emphasised the role of school heads as role models, quoting leadership expert John C. Maxwell: “A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way.” He highlighted that proper planning in fund utilisation and manpower management is crucial for an effective teaching-learning process.”
Stressing on the importance of influential leadership over authoritative control, DSEK said that, “The key to successful leadership is hard work and influence and not the authority.”
He assured the principals and school leaders that the Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) would take all possible steps to enhance the education system in the valley. He urged them to embrace innovation, adopt best practices, and create a conducive learning environment for students.
The workshop brought together senior officials from the School Education Department (SED), principals, educational experts, and former Chief Education Officers, who discussed strategies for effective administration and academic leadership. The programme aimed to equip newly appointed school and cluster leaders with essential leadership skills to improve institutional management and enhance the quality of education in Kashmir. Among the key officials present were Joint Director School Education Kashmir Muhammad Mushtaq, Personnel Officer Er. Hilal Ahmad Butt and Chief Accounts Officer Syed Mubashira Hussain.
