Srinagar, April 26: According to the different news sources, WhatsApp has made a bold ultimatum and is back in the news, almost after four years it made controversial policy changes. This is a stunning turn of events. Together with its parent company Meta, the messaging has issued a challenge, threatening to terminate its services in India should it be forced to breach its end-to-end encryption and provide user data to the authorities.

In the Delhi High Court, where WhatsApp and Meta filed a lawsuit contesting India’s 2021 IT regulations for social media intermediaries. They specifically took issue with the obligation to identify the original source of content.

The Indian government published new regulations for social media platforms in 2021, requiring the appointment of key compliance officers and the release of compliance reports on a monthly basis.
