Pulwama, July 12: To create further employment opportunities for unemployed youth, the Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board is mulling to construct more shops on its notified land.
Chairperson Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board, Dr Darakshan Andrabi, made these remarks while talking to media here in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Wednesday during her visit to Choodi Market where she was given a warm welcome by Shopkeepers.
Many of the shops at Choodi market Pulwama are women oriented and deal in items like scarves, hosiery, cosmetics, bangles, jewellery, perfumes and others.
The chairperson told the media that earlier shopkeepers at Choodi Market Pulwama were having many problems which had constrained their operations.
“Now it is notified by Waqf after we took the market under our administration,” she said, adding that it is their responsibility to safeguard Waqf assets and people associated with them.
She narrated that shopkeepers at Choodi Market Pulwama operate their shops from mediocre and cramped spaces.
She added that these shopkeepers earn their livelihood from these shops and feed their families with the earnings.
She said that Waqf is striving to improve their condition and it is in this quest she will hold talks with the concerned deputy commissioner so that the issue of cramped space is addressed.
She narrated that Waqf intends to construct more shops on its notified land to create more employment opportunities for youth.
Earlier in the day Andrabi visited Newa area of Pulwama where she paid obeisance at the shrine of Syed Sultan Fakhrudin ( RA) and also participated in a public programme there.
During her Newa visit she told the media that Waqf is beginning development with donations it is receiving.
“ During Previous year our focus was on streamlining Waqf and this year we will be more concerned with development and progress,” she said, adding that it is for this reason she visits a particular shrine personally to see how it can be improved before starting documentation formalities.
She told that donations made to Waqf are in safe hands and that they have been successful in curbing charity frauds in Waqf
Secy Health chairs 10th BoDs meet of JKMSCL
Srinagar, July 12: Secretary, Health and Medical Education, Bhupinder Kumar Wednesday chaired the 10th Board of Directors (BoDs) meet of Jammu and Kashmir Medical Supplies Corporation Limited (JKMSCL) here.
The meeting was attended by Managing Director, JKMSCL, Principals of Govt. Medical Colleges, Srinagar/ Jammu/ Anantnag /Baramulla/ Doda/ Kathua/ Rajouri/ Handwara/ Udhampur, Principal Govt. Dental College Srinagar/Jammu, Director Health Services, Kashmir/Jammu, Director Ayush, Director General Codes, Director Finance, Health & Medical Education, Director Family Welfare, Controller Drug & Foods Controller Organization and other officers of JKMSCL and other allied departments.
During the meeting, the BODs discussed various issues related to functioning of the Corporation and suggested measures to improve its profitability. The Board deliberated on various other issues related to bringing efficiency in the operationalisation of the corporation.
The BoDs during the meeting ratified the decisions of last Finance Committee Meeting of JKMSCL which included consideration of revised budget estimates for the year 2022-23 and proposed budget estimates for the Financial year 2023-24, issue of penalties imposed during Covid period, revision of the clause for release of performance security and others.
The Board also delegated powers to Managing Director, JKMSCL to accord Administrative approval for executing works.
During the meeting, the Board was informed about different kinds of procurements undertaken by JKMSCL over the last one year like procurement for prestigious State Cancer Institute Jammu, hiring of services of Bio Medical Equipment Maintenance for GMC Jammu and Srinagar.
