Srinagar, Oct 03: National Conference (NC) General Secretary, Ali Muhammad Sagar and Apni Party president Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari on Thursday called for adequate arrangements during the Urs of Hazrat Sheikh Syed Abdul Qadir Jeelani (RA) to be observed across the Kashmir division with traditional gaiety and fervour.
To ensure a smooth and successful event for devotees, Sagar in a statement issued here emphasised the need to make ample arrangements to meet the requirements due to the increased footfall of devotees at the Dastgeer Sahib shrine in Khanyar during the Urs days.
“It is crucial for both the administration and shrine management to step up and meet the requirements of devotees by providing the best facilities possible to ensure a satisfying and hassle-free experience,” he said.
The NC leader urged the divisional administration to issue necessary directives to all line departments, including the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), to ensure that all basic and effective amenities are provided to devotees during the Urs days at the shrine. “Every effort must be made to ensure the comfort and well-being of all visiting the holy shrine at Khanyar,” he said.
The party leaders including Tanvir Sadiq, Shameema Firdous, Sheikh Rafi and Ahsan Pardesi urged the divisional administration to ensure that all basic amenities are provided to devotees visiting Ziyarat Dastgeer Sahib Saraibala, Asar-e-Sharief Pinjoora Shopian and Ziyarat Sharief Rahbab Sahib.
Apni Party president Altaf Bukhari in a statement extended greetings to the people ahead of the annual Urs observance of Peer Dastgeer Sheikh Syed Abdul Qadir Jeelani (RA), which will begin on Friday.
In his message, Bukhari said, “As the auspicious days of the annual Urs of Hazrat Sheikh Syed Abdul Qadir Jeelani (RA) are beginning, I extend greetings to the people, especially the Muslims of Jammu and Kashmir. Dastgeer Sahib has deeply influenced the lives of millions, guiding them towards a deeper understanding of spirituality and faith. His life was dedicated to spreading the message of Islam, and through his wisdom and compassion, he led countless souls toward a spiritual path.”
“Dastgeer Sahib’s enduring legacy continues to inspire, and his teachings remain a beacon of moral and spiritual guidance for generations. The annual Urs celebrations are a tribute to the immense impact he has had on our lives,” he added.
The Apni Party chief urged the people to pray for peace and harmony in Jammu and Kashmir during the annual Urs of Dastgeer Sahib. He stated, “I request everyone to pray for peace and tranquillity in Jammu and Kashmir, during this sacred occasion.”
Bukhari also called on the administration to ensure that all necessary arrangements are in place for the comfort of devotees during the Urs days.
