UIET, Kathua campus, JU organises lectures on cyber crime, AI, ML

Jammu, Feb 20: University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET), Kathua Campus, University of Jammu, Computer Science Engineering (CSE) organised two lectures on the themes “ Cyber Crime and Cyber Security, Unraveling the Complexities: A Deep Dive into AI & ML”.

The resource persons for the lectures were Dr. Bhavana Arora, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science Engineering (CSE), Central University of Jammu and Dr. Palak Mahajan, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science Engineering (CSE), Central University of Jammu. While delivering the lecture on Cyber Crime and Cyber Security, Dr. Bhavana Arora said, “Cyber Crime has infiltrated our lives leading to enormous challenges not only to our privacy but the overall well-being. This needs to be tackled so that we are able to use cyber space for the development of society and the nation. Students who are acquiring Degrees in Computer Science need to upgrade their skills to internalize the emergence of new frontiers in the digital media security with a prime focus on being the innovators who can contribute towards the digitally secure society and nation.”

In her lecture on the theme, “Unraveling the Complexities: A Deep Dive into AI & ML”, Dr. Palak Mahajan said, we have entered a new phase of technological development in terms of Industry 5.0 that is opening the floodgates of various frontiers of machine learning. Not only that, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is having a vigorous impact on the organizational behavior and human behavior where dependence on the new age programs is increasing. In order to keep pace with these developments there is a need for capacity building and research. Students need to be updated about the instantaneous improvisations about the AI that is working in tandem with human intelligence.”

This lecture series to update the students regarding the new technological advancements is being organized under the patronage and guidance of Prof. Arvind Jasrotia, Rector Kathua Campus, University of Jammu and I/C Principal, Dr. Rockey Gupta University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET), Kathua Campus, University of Jammu.

During the lectures Dr. Pankaj Khajuria, Assistant Registrar, Kathua Campus University of Jammu was present on the occasion. Mementos to the resource persons were presented by Er. Archana Salaria. Program coordinator of the event was Er. Rakshit Khajuria. Proceedings of the programme were ably conducted by Er. Puneet Kour. Vote of thanks was presented by Er. Jewan Jot. Lectures were attended by students and faculty members.
