Jammu, Sept 06: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) started its Student Induction Program (SIP-2025) with an energetic inaugural session held at the university campus. The programme, aimed at welcoming and orienting new students, gathered faculty members, dignitaries, and newcomers in an atmosphere of inspiration and academic enthusiasm.

The event began with a warm welcome to the guests by Dr Shafaq Rasool, Associate Dean, Academic Affairs (Non-Engg.), followed by the National Anthem and the ceremonial Lamp Lighting & Saraswati Vandana led by the students.

Prof (Dr) Balbir Singh, Dean of Academic Affairs, highlighted the importance of holistic education and student engagement at SMVDU. A documentary showcased the university’s achievements, facilities, and vision. Deans and Heads then shared the ethos and opportunities, welcoming new students.

The inaugural address by Prof Pragati Kumar, Vice-Chancellor of SMVDU, urged students to embrace discipline, innovation, and values as key to their studies. Prof Kumar emphasised the university’s role in developing responsible global citizens. The students took an Oath, designed by Dr A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, as a solemn pledge of integrity, hard work, and service to society.

The event was meticulously planned by Dr Bharat Bhushan Jindal, Associate Dean, Academic Affairs (Engineering). Dr Shafaq Rasool delivered the Vote of Thanks, extending gratitude to all dignitaries, faculty members, and students. She also expressed her sincere appreciation to the entire organising team of the Student Induction Program, the Academic Affairs section, and the Universal Human Values Cell, SMVDU.

The event concluded with the National Anthem, motivating and inspiring the gathering. The Student Induction Program will continue till September 15, 2025, featuring interactive sessions and activities aimed at fostering students’ academic readiness, cultural integration, and personal growth.
