Two drug peddlers arrested in Budgam

Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police in Budgam have arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

A Spokesperson said that Police party of Police Station Khanshab, at a checkpoint established at Kremshora near Graveyard intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot, but was tactfully apprehended by police party. He has been identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad Sofi son of Mohammad Maqbool Sofi resident of Chodribagh Kremshora Khansahab. During search, 03 sticks of Charas like substance wrapped in corn husk weighing about 69.28 grams were recovered from his possession. Subsequently, he was arrested.

During questioning, the accused person disclosed that he has procured the contraband substance from one person namely Mohammad Wahid Thoker son of Mohammad Sadiq Thokar resident of Chodribagh Kremshora who has concealed the additional contraband substances at his residential house. Acting swiftly upon this information Police party conducted raid to the house in presence of 1st Class Executive Magistrate Khansahab and during search of the house Charas like substance in a powder form weighing about 550 grams was recovered and he was also arrested.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 26/2025 under relevant section of law has been registered at Police Station Khansahab and investigation has been initiated.

J&K Police with the support of the general public is committed to combat drug trafficking and dismantling the narcotics network in the region.
