Two civilians injured as fire damages commercial building in Safa Kadal

Two civilians were injured on Saturday late evening after the fire broke out from a two-storey commercial building near Lattar Masjid in Safa Kadal area of Srinagar, officials said.

An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the fire was reported at 9:43 PM, and within a minute, the fire tenders from the nearest stations and headquarters command Srinagar were rushed to the spot.

He said as per initial reports, the blaze affected a room in the double-storey structure that housed a medical store. The fire was later brought under control.

He said, in the incident, two civilians sustained minor injuries and both were shifted to hospital for treatment.

They were later identified as Farooq Ahmad Wani, son of Mohammad Ashraf Wani, a resident of Noorshah Colony Sadapora and Kaiser Ahmad Bhat, son of Ghulam Nabi Bhat, a resident of Shah Humdan Colony Eidgah.

“The situation is under control,” the official added.—(KNO)
