Srinagar, July 21: The Jammu and Kashmir Traffic Police Headquarters has issued a comprehensive traffic plan and advisory for July 22 covering key national and regional highways across the Union Territory.A statement issued here said that subject to fair weather, Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY) convoys and LMVs including passenger and private cars will be allowed from both sides of NH-44. “Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMVs) will only be allowed on alternate days. TCU Jammu and Srinagar will coordinate with TCU Ramban before releasing them. Cut-off timings for LMVs on Jammu-Srinagar NHW are–Nagrota (Jammu): 0600–1200 hrs, Jakheni (Udhampur): 0700–1300 hrs, Qazigund (towards Jammu): 1130–1400 hrs and vehicles will not be allowed before or after these timings,” the statement said. It said that HMVs from Jakheni to Srinagar will be permitted after assessment, but no such vehicle will be allowed after 1900 hrs.The advisory said that as per the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir’s directive, HMVs carrying fuel, LPG, FCI goods, or up to 10-tyre capacity must use the Mughal Road while returning to Jammu to avoid congestion during the Yatra period. “All fruit growers and perishable goods transporters from the Valley are instructed to report before 0900 hrs at designated points between NAVYUG Tunnel and Levdoora for smooth movement,” the advisory said. “HMVs must avoid overloading, ensure vehicle fitness, and carry sufficient fuel. Only 6- and 10-tyre HMVs are allowed via Dhar Road.”As per the advisory, for Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag Road (NH-244), LMVs/HPSVs allowed both ways (Anantnag to Kishtwar) between 0800–1600 hrs and 0900–1500 hrs respectively. “No HMV except designated HPSVs permitted,” it said. “SSG Road (Srinagar–Sonamarg–Gumari):–Minamarg to Srinagar: LMVs followed by HMVs from 0500–1000 hrs, Sonamarg to Kargil: LMVs followed by HMVs from 1130–1730 hrs. Security Forces convoys must plan to avoid disruption of Yatra movements.”The advisory further stated that for Mughal Road, LMVs allowed from both sides, while HMVs (up to 10 tyres) will ply only from Shopian to Poonch between 0700–1800 hrs, subject to GREF clearance. “Commuters from Reasi, Katra, Udhampur, Patnitop, Doda, and Ramban must carry photo ID post cut-off hours for facilitated passage. Travellers are advised to avoid night travel and halt between Ramban and Banihal, especially near landslide-prone zones,” the advisory reads, adding that all motorists are strongly advised to confirm road status before beginning their journey via the following Traffic Control Units (TCUs). “Traffic Helplines are–Jammu: 0191-2459048, 0191-2740550, 9419147732, 103, Srinagar: 0194-2450022, 2485396, 18001807091, 103, Ramban: 9419993745, 1800-180-7043, Udhampur: 8491928625, Kishtwar PCR: 9906154100 and Kargil PCR: 9541902330, 9541902331,” the advisory reads.
