Ganderbal, Dec 07: In the wake of a tragic roadside accident near Zojila Pass that claimed the lives of four tourists and a local driver three days ago, SSP Traffic Rural Kashmir, Ravinder Pal Singh, took swift action to address safety concerns. Singh personally visited the accident site to assess the road conditions and, in response to the incident, announced stringent measures.
Effective immediately, only vehicles originating from Ladakh and Kargil will be allowed to proceed towards their destinations. In a bid to ensure public safety, tourists are explicitly prohibited from accessing the Zero Point route. SSP Ravinder Pal Singh, told Rising Kashmir and expressing deep concern over the recent tragedy, stressed the necessity for enhanced traffic management measures.
He said that no tourist vehicle from Sonamarg to Zero Point are allowed to move there till further orders, he said.
Moreover, Singh extended his scrutiny beyond Zojila Pass, conducting a thorough review of the traffic situation in Sonamarg. The comprehensive assessment aims to identify and address potential challenges, with the ultimate goal of improving road safety in the region.
