Tourist lady from Pune killed, another injured in Sonamarg road accident

A tourist lady from Pune was killed while another person was injured after being hit by a vehicle in Sonamarg area of Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Wednesday, officials said.

An officials told Rising Kashmir that a fatal road accident in Sonamarg area of Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district resulted in the death of a 67-year-old tourist from Pune, Maharashtra, identified as Sushila, wife of the late Babu Rao More Vishwajit Shankar Dhawale. The incident also left another resident critically injured and hospitalized.

The accident occurred when a Tata Mobile, bearing Registration No JK01AT/ 0637 and driven by Jan Mohammad from Harwan, Srinagar, struck Sushila and Mehraj Ahmad Ganie. Mehraj Ahmad is the son of Mashoq Ahmad Ganie from Haril, Handwara. Both victims were hit by the vehicle, and the impact was severe.

Following the accident, both Sushila and Mehraj Ahmad were rushed to the Primary Health Center (PHC) in Sonamarg by Sonamarg Police and Traffic Police for immediate medical attention.

Tragically, Sushila succumbed to her injuries, with doctors pronouncing her deceased upon arrival. Mehraj Ahmad, critically injured in the collision, has been referred to SKIMS (Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences) in Soura, Srinagar, for advanced treatment and care.
