Srinagar, Feb 24: In a concerted effort to combat the escalating crisis of substance abuse, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Srinagar, has kickstarted a transformative seminar named “Koshish.” The seminar, held at the ADR Centre, District Court Complex, Momminabad, Srinagar, witnessed the convergence of esteemed dignitaries, representatives from various sectors, media personnel, influencers, and passionate volunteers.
Led by Jawad Ahmed, Chairman DLSA (PDJ), Srinagar, and supported by collaborations with NGOs Kashmir Concern and White Globe, alongside the Aryans Group of Colleges, the event addressed multifaceted dimensions of substance abuse, particularly its prevalence among school-aged children. Distinguished speakers, including Rajiv Omprakash Pandey, DIG Central Kashmir, and Dr. Anshu Kataria, Chairman Aryans Group of Colleges, shed light on strategies for intervention and enforcement, as well as the pivotal roles of educators and the judiciary in combating this societal challenge.
Emphasizing the imperative of collective action, Mr. Jahangir Ahmed Bakshi, Secretary DLSA, Srinagar, urged participants to play an active role in raising awareness and discouraging drug use. Dr. Tauseef Bhat, Chairman Kashmir Concern, underscored the urgent need for comprehensive support systems, including awareness campaigns and rehabilitation programs, to address the devastating impact of drug abuse on individuals and communities.
Adv. Syed Junaid Sadaat, Chairman White Globe, highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts among NGOs and stakeholders in tackling the root causes of substance abuse, while also stressing the role of parents, teachers, and community leaders in fostering a drug-free environment.
The seminar not only illuminated the severity of the issue but also provided a platform for proactive solutions and concerted action, signaling a pivotal moment in the fight against substance abuse in Srinagar and beyond.
