Bodies of three civilians, who went missing on evening of March 6 in Lohai Malhar village in Billawar in Kathua district, were found on Saturday, officials said.

A police official said that bodies were recovered after they were spotted near nallah (rivulet) using drone surveillance in upper reaches of Billawar.

Asked about the reason behind their deaths, the official said that investigations are underway and details would be shared once medico-legal formalities are completed. Asked if there was militancy angle to it, the official said, “it is matter of investigation and premature to conclude at this point in time.”

The trio have been identified as Varun Singh, 15, son of Chamel Singh, a resident Dehota village, Yogesh Singh, 32, son of Shori Lal and Darshan Singh, 40, both residents of Marhoon village.

The recovery of the bodies comes amid massive searches launched by army and police in the area.

Earlier in February 16, two civilians Shamsher, 37 and Roshan 45, were found dead at Kohag village in Billawar. Police have already constituted a Special Investigation Team to investigate the case of the duo. (GNS)
