Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari Saturday lashed out at those political leaders who resemble participation in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections with referendum, saying “such politicians are once again deceiving people of Jammu and Kashmir and leading them towards death and destruction”.

Addressing a public meeting in Fateh Kadal area of Srinagar district, Bukhari as per Kashmir News Service (KNS) said that in the ongoing Lok Sabha election few political leaders are trying to bring back uncertain situation in J&K while resembling participation in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections with referendum.

He welcomed the statement made by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq regarding ongoing Lok Sabha polls, in which he had said that “participation in the electoral process shouldn’t be treated as referendum”. “I appreciate Mirwaiz Umar Farooq’s statement that elections should not be equated with a referendum. Those who say this election is not less than referendum are taking Kashmir on wrong path again,” Bukhari said.

He expressed gratitude to people of Srinagar for taking part in the rally, and assured them that their concerns will be taken care of. “I want to assure people of Shehr-e-Khaas that I will personally address the challenges you are facing. I will put off thorns in your way by my eyes,” Bukhari said.

While responding to a query, Bukhari said the Jammu and Kashmir Police belong to us, and I have the right to critique them. (KNS)
