Jammu, Nov 12: TRC terror victim Aabida has lost her battle for life on Tues-day morning, marking a grim reality for her grieving family and adding to the unending sorrow faced by many in Kashmir. Aabida’s family is still struggling to comprehend the tragic loss, while their children remain in shock, their world forever changed. A simple family outing turned into a nightmare, leaving them shattered beyond repair.
Aabida had ventured out on a Sunday afternoon with her children and hus-band, intending to spend quality time together, just as countless other families do. Yet, in an instant, the ordinary day turned into an unspeakable tragedy. The terrorist attack not only took Aabida’s life but left her family in a struggle for survival, grappling with emotional devastation.
“What was her fault?” her relatives ask, voices breaking under the weight of sorrow and anger. They plead for a more secure future where no more children are orphaned, and where loved ones do not meet tragic ends.
“We are broken and lost, we need justice,” pleaded Aabida’s brother. “Our loved one is taken from us without reason, and now we face an uncertain fu-ture. We ask the administration to please address these terror attacks with im-mediate and strengthened security measures. Our children should not have to grow up without their parents.”
“This must stop now,” said her brother in a choked voice and demands government action to end terror attacks.
Her family’s pain echoes the distress of others, including the loved ones of those killed in the re-cent Gangangeer terror attack, which claimed seven innocent lives when terrorists opened fire at a tunnel construction site in the Gagangir area of Ganderbal district, near the famous tourist re-sort of Sonamarg, this evening.
Many of the victims were the sole breadwinners for their families, leaving their dependents in desperate circumstances. The heartbreak extends beyond grief: families are now haunted by the fear of not being able to keep their kitchen fires burning.
Shashi Abrol, a tunnel designer working in a construction company, was among those slain in the Gangangeer attack. As the sole breadwinner, he leaves behind two children, who now face a future overshadowed by loss and finan-cial hardship.
“We need justice for Shashi, and for all the victims who were not at fault but have paid the highest price,” said a relative. “We need the administration to en-sure that families like ours receive tangible support.”
Another victim, a doctor devoted to saving lives, has left an irreplaceable void. Families urge the administration to strengthen counterterrorism measures and ensure these acts are met with decisive and uncompromising action.
The tragedy of Shashi’s family is not isolated. Among the victims was also a doctor, whose life-saving vocation was cut short, leaving behind a void that cannot be filled. These stories underscore the urgency of the victims’ families’ calls for action.
The series of terror attacks that have rocked Kashmir in particular in the recent days besides the terrorist operations in Jammu and Kashmir in general need a new ap-proach that strikes at the root of this constant threat.
The victims’ families have called on the authorities to close security gaps and to ensure that incidents like these do not recur.
“We appeal to the administration to create policies that provide support to the victims’ family,” Abida’s brother urged. “These families need help to pick up the pieces, emotionally and financially.”
Meanwhile, there is an urgent need to devise a comprehensive counter terrorism policy that is pre-emptive and proactive in nature. Otherwise, the best efforts of the security forces to save the lives are lost. Terror modules operating in Jammu and Kashmir thrive on infusing the fear in the minds of the common masses by inflicting casualties.
Aabida’s loss must force the policy makers to revise the security preparedness and strengthen the security grid so that collateral damage is minimised and innocent lives saved. It has to be internalised that these terror acts are acts of war and as such must be dealt with strategies which decode the modus operandi of the terror operatives. Re-calibration is necessary to generate a sense of confidence and safety among the common masses on the streets who are losing lives for no fault of theirs.
Security forces face mounting pressure to strengthen safeguards and intensify counterterrorism efforts, while residents of the Jammu and Kashmir live under a shadow of constant apprehension.
Their message to the authorities is clear: tougher policies, intensified efforts, and a secure future for families of terrorism victims’.
