Jammu, June 23:
Lieutenant Governor Manoj SinhaSunday said that enemy is desperate but terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir is nearing its end.
Speaking during the Jammu and Kashmir Police’s 16th Basic Recruit Training Course (BRTC) batch attestation cum passing out paradeat the Subsidiary Police Training Centre in Talwara, Reasi district, the LG emphasised that security forces are well-prepared to eliminate the remaining terrorists operating in the region with external support.
Sinha called for strict action against those harbouring and supporting terrorists. “We must hunt down the terrorists and their aides who harbour them,” he asserted, noting that recent terror acts are signs of desperation from the neighbouring country that supports terrorism.
A total of 860 recruit constables of the border battalion participated in the parade, marking the completion of their rigorous training. They took an oath to perform their duties with dedication and honesty. The new recruits, trained to tackle terrorism, were encouraged by the LG’s assertion that terrorism would soon be completely eradicated from J&K.
Reiterating his administration’s goal of complete elimination of terrorism from Jammu and Kashmir, Sinha also addressed emerging threats such as drug trafficking, cybercrime, and radicalization. He emphasised the importance of maintaining high levels of motivation and professionalism within the police force to stay ahead of adversaries.
“I have great faith in the Jammu and Kashmir Police, army, and our security agencies. They are not only responsive to the safety and urgent needs of citizens but also effectively tackling terrorism in cyberspace,” Sinha said.
The LG paid tribute to the bravery, sacrifice, and selfless service of the J&K Police. “J&K Police have always shown high levels of professional excellence under extremely challenging circumstances. For several decades, this elite police force has worked with dedication to preserve the integrity and security of our country, keeping the wheels of J&K’s progress moving,” he stated.
Sinha congratulated the new recruits, urging them to act as force multipliers in neutralising terror threats. He also commended the J&K Police for its civic action programs and reiterated the administration’s commitment to modernising the police force and ensuring the welfare of police and security personnel and their families.
The event saw the Lt Governor taking the Rashtriya Salute, inspecting the parade, and felicitating the cadets. He also awarded certifications to outstanding achievers. The ceremony was attended by dignitaries including RR Swain, DGP; Vijay Kumar, ADGP Law & Order; Anand Jain, ADGP Jammu; Dr.Mandeep Kumar Bhandari, Principal Secretary to the Lt Governor, along with serving and retired army and police personnel, and family members of the new constables.
Speaking on the occasion, DGPRR Swain extended his best wishes to the new recruits and asked them to work with honesty and dedicate themselves in the service of the people.
