Srinagar, Dec 28: Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami has expressed deep concern over the disruption caused by the snowfall in the Kashmir Valley, which has severely impacted daily life and exposed the administration’s lack of preparedness despite prior weather forecasts.
The first snowfall of the season has led to massive power breakdown, road blockades, scarcity of essential commodities, and water-logging, creating significant hardships for the people, the CPI(M) leader said in a statement issued here.
Criticising the administration’s inadequate response, Tarigami highlighted the plight of rural areas where roads remain uncleared, worsening public suffering. He called on the government to take immediate steps for cthe learance of snow-covered roads, restoration of damaged power lines, and ensure a steady supply of emergency services.
“The biting cold and prolonged power outages in south Kashmir, have plunged entire areas into darkness,” he said.
The CPI(M) leader urged the authorities to ensure the availability of basic amenities and address the challenges brought by the snowfall, as people continue to face severe hardships.
