Baramulla, July 29: Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Minga Sherpa on Monday chaired a meeting of the concerned officers here to review the preparations for the conduct of Swachhta Pakhwada.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on the various activities planned for the fortnight-long campaign under the theme ‘The Shuchita Sangram’, starting from August 01 to 15 across the district to instill a sense of civic duty among the citizens of the district.
These activities include extensive cleanliness drives, awareness programs, rallies, marathons, quiz programs and workshops aimed at cleaning our surroundings and educating the public about waste management, sanitation practices, and the harmful effects of pollution.
During the meeting, a district-level committee was constituted to oversee the campaign’s implementation. The ADDC was appointed as the nodal officer, responsible for ensuring the campaign’s overall success across the district while specific EO and BDO were appointed to handle its execution in urban and rural areas, respectively.
As part of the campaign, a swachhata pledge will be held on 1st August which will witness participation by students from all the institutions across the district whereas health checkup camps will be held for all swachgrahis at block level on August 2nd.
The DC directed the officers to organise plantation drives at the legacy waste dumping sites and ensure that waste is segregated, collected, and disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner.
Plog run will be held as part of the fortnight campaign at all the institutes which will be participated by the students and teachers and led by the district officers.
Furthermore, Sherpa highlighted the significance of Swachata Pakhwada and called for the active participation of local communities to come forward and contribute to the cleanliness drive.
The meeting was attended by the Additional District Development Commissioner Baramulla, Syed Qamar Sajad; Chief Planning Officer Baramulla, Javed Ahmad; DPO, Chief Medical Officer, Executive Officers and Block Development Officers and other concerned officers were present in the meeting.
