Ganderbal, Apr 18: In a shocking incident that highlights the growing menace of stray dogs, at least 5 sheep were killed and two to three others were injured in an attack by stray dogs in Ramwari area of Gund in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Tuesday.
The attack took place early in the morning when the dogs barged into a cowshed and killed the sheep that belonged to a local farmer, Abdul Rahim Kullo.
According to the owner of the livestock, two of the injured sheep are critical and the others are in a stable condition. This incident has left the villagers in RamwariGund in a state of shock and has raised concerns about the safety of their livestock.
The locals have alleged that the authorities have not taken any steps to control the growing canine population in the region, which has resulted in such attacks becoming a regular occurrence. They have expressed their frustration at the lack of action by the administration to address the issue.
“This was not the first incident of such nature. In the past, stray dogs have killed dozens of sheep in other villages of the district,” the villagers said.
The incident has once again highlighted the need for the authorities to take immediate action to control the stray dog population in the region.
