Stop Trolling Ambassador Vikram Misri

Operation Sindoor launched to assert the writ of the Indian state and avenge the gruesome massacre of innocent tourists who were on a vacation in Pahalgam has established beyond doubt that India is a responsible democracy that thrives on the strength of its institutions manned by professionals who are well versed and experienced when it comes to perform the national duties to uphold the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the motherland. The Armed forces dealt a severe blow to the terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (POJK) and Bahawalpur in Pakistan making it clear that there is a heavy price to be paid for inflicting damage on India. This operation was highly disciplined and made a difference with its precision. The Operation Sindoor was materialised by evaluating the pros and cons besides its importance for the national security of India with Prime Minister Narendra Modi leading his government and the ministries in implementing this decision to ensure the safety of the citizens. India’s military brass and civil servants and the political class and above the incumbent government at the centre were on board. As these decisions are guided by the national interest and not by individual preferences and organisational choices. During the operation the nation was briefed about the developments and the decisions of the government by the team led by Ambassador Vikram Misri, the Foreign Secretary. He was conveying the vital developments and the policy decisions of the Indian Government to the nation and the world. Unfortunately, a vicious social media campaign was launched against him on the social media, denigrating him and casting aspersions on his integrity. Making things personal as if he was solely responsible for the day to day developments and the decisions. People who had expectations of their own level without knowing the strategic implications and objectives of the Operation Sindoor were aghast at the understanding reached for the ceasefire between India and Pakistan between the DGMO’s and ended in ascribing it to the Foreign Secretary as if it was his personal decision. A series of posts on X and social media were fired targeting Vikram Misri, without realising that he was the spokesman and these people ended in shooting the messenger. The things did not end here. The people not only trolled Misri who was forced to make his X account private but his daughter was also targeted. This is really absurd and highly malicious. Many posts crossed the limits and indulged in sectarian bias by targeting the former Kashmiri Pandit diplomats and even the Kashmiri Pandit community as Vikram Misri is a Kashmiri Pandit. Without realising that this community has been the frontline victim of terrorism in Kashmir and has played a pivotal role in exposing the subversive intent of Pakistan sponsored terrorism all over India and rest of the world and brought to the fore their genocidal attrition at the hands of these radical mercenaries. Vikram Misri is an accomplished diplomat who has upheld the national interest and upheld the Indian interests during his all assignments. As an Indian Foreign Service officer he has served in Brussels, Spain, Myanmar, Tunis and most importantly as India’s Ambassador to China when the situation was very tense between the two neighbours in 2020-2021.he went on to hold the office of the Deputy national Security Advisor before taking up the present assignment. He has made his mark during the tenure of three Prime Ministers Inder Kumar Gujral, Dr.Manmohan Singh and presently, Narendra Modi. The unwanted trolling and social media tirade against the nationalist and competent diplomat is a mischievous and intentional act to misguide the masses by the vested interests and create a social strife. The Central Government must investigate as to who will be benefitted by this highly deplorable act at this crucial juncture when the nation is in a state of war. Which IT cell is indulging in this mischief and why? Ambassador Vikram Misri is the son of the soil and as such people of Jammu and Kashmir are proud of him and his dedication, national service and upholding the national interest.
