A youth from Soiteng area of Srinagar allegedly died due to medical negligence at Shri Maharaja Hari Singh (SMHS) Hospital Srinagar on Saturday.

As per the details available with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a 19-year-old youth identified as Faisal Ahmad from Soiteng area of Srinagar, who was brought to SMHS on Friday late night died at SMHS on Saturday evening.

Family members and relatives told KNO that Faisal complained of some pain in stomach following which he was brought to SMHS during night. They said that Faisal was fine till he was shifted to ward on Saturday where he was feeling breathlessness and later succumbed.

They alleged that the ventilator was not available and later doctor instead of looking patient took file with himself and ran away. They demanded high-level investigation in this regard and action against the doctor, who allegedly ran away instead of treating the patient.

Meanwhile, a top official at SMHS told KNO that the patient who was undergoing treatment of private hospital was brought to SMHS during night with no pulse and BP. He said that the patient had a hole in the intestine and doctors had taken a triple high risk bond from the family before going for surgery as he was already in shock.

He said that after his death, the family members raised hue and cry despite knowing that patient was already critical. Asked about the allegations that doctor ran away, he said that when family members and relatives of patient raised hue and cry as he was aware patient has died and he left the spot for his safety. He further added that further investigation is going on and if any negligence will be found, action will be taken—(KNO)
